Call for entries 2026: applications for the 29th Gran Paradiso Film Festival are now open

Fondation Grand Paradis announces the opening of applications for the 29th Gran Paradiso Film Festival, the international competition dedicated to films on nature and environmental themes. The 28th edition concluded successfully, reaffirming the Festival’s mission to raise public awareness of environmental challenges and to showcase the extraordinary imagery and storytelling of filmmakers from around the world.

The festival will be held in Cogne, in the Gran Paradiso municipalities and online, from 27 July to 1 August 2026 (full details will be published on the website www.gpff.it).

Entry is free and open to anyone who has produced a feature film or short film after 1st January 2023 – in the latter case, a documentary, fiction film or animated film with a maximum duration of 20 minutes – on the theme of nature.

Each director may submit up to two works – as long as they have never been selected in previous editions – and compete for various prizes. The prizes are the following:

  • International Competition – Feature Films

“Stambecco d’Oro” (5,000€)

“Stambecco d’Oro Junior” (500€)

  • International Competition – Short Films

CortoNatura Award (1,000€)

Best Short Film for the technical jury (500€)

  • International Competition – Feature Films and Short Films

“Best Screenplay” Award (1,000€)

“Best Photography” Award (1,000€)

“Scientific Insight” Award (1,000€)

  • International Competition – GPFF ONLINE

GPFF online Award – feature film (1,000€)

GPFF online Award – short film (500€)

The organisation must receive the entry form and materials to be attached no later than 28th February 2026.

Requirements and terms of participation are detailed in the rules and regulations, which can be consulted on the festival website.

In addition to the technical jury – composed of image professionals, animal filmmakers and authoritative personalities from the worlds of science, culture and nature – that will award the “Best Short Film for the technical jury” Award, the “Best Screenplay” Award, the “Best Photography” Award and the “Scientific Insight” Award, the audience jury will vote on the competing titles. In fact, it will be the spectators who will award the “Stambecco d’Oro”, by participating in the free screenings and casting their vote. The “Stambecco d’Oro Junior” will instead be awarded by the youngest audience, while the GPFF Online Award will be conferred by the online jury, who will be able to watch the films via a streaming platform and vote from their own device. The Gran Paradiso Film Festival thus confirms itself as an international event, open to all and increasingly digital-oriented.
